John D. Keenan – of counsel

John Keenan has been “of counsel” with Tinti, Quinn, Grover & Frey, P.C. since 2006.

John’s practice areas are principally family law and criminal law.  John has been handling all matters relating to family law for almost two decades.  John, a former prosecutor in Essex County, also handles criminal matters in the district court, including restraining orders and clerk’s hearings.

John has served as State Representative for Salem since January 2005.  Now in his fourth term, he is Chair of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities & Energy.  Prior to becoming state representative, John was also the City Solicitor for Salem responsible for all litigation and legal advice to the Mayor, City Council and department heads.  He served in the Salem Legal Department for eight years (1996-2004).

From 1992-1994, John served as an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County, working primarily in Lynn District Court and being one of the first members of the Domestic Violence Unit.

John is a graduate of Harvard College and Suffolk Law School.  In law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Law Review and was the Recipient of the Leo J. Wyman Award (student who most advanced civic and professional responsibilities of a lawyer).  He was also a member of the Constitutional Law Appellate Team.

John is a twenty-year rider in the Pan Mass Challenge, raising over $100,000 for cancer research at the Dana Farber.
